Philadelphia and Friends Pray for the Filling of the Holy Spirit

On January 27th, almost 60 Philadelphia SDA Church members and friends were spiritually and physically nourished at the Women’s Prayer Breakfast.  The event was hosted by the Women’s and Prayer Ministries and focused on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The event started with song service led by Sis. Beverly Fowler.  Sister Debra Webb performed a musical selection, Change Me Now.  Speakers included Lisa Gonzalez (Greater NY Conference’s Women’s Ministry Director), Melissa Hall, Elder Melbourne Gregory (Bible Worker, North Bronx Church), Sister Yvette Meade (Motivational Speaker from Mount of Blessings SDA Church),  Elder Bernard Richards (First Elder, Philadelphia SDA Church) and Pastor Earl Baldwin.    Sister Hall, the main speaker, emphasized the importance of receiving the Holy Spirit in order to be effective ministers for God.  Elder Gregory, Elder Richards and Pastor Baldwin provided intercession for our youth and attendees who had individual prayer requests.

At the morning’s close, participants shared a meal of ackee and saltfish, fried dumpling, green banana, steamed cabbage, yam and porridge.  Sister Rosena Rattigan (Women's Ministry Leader) was the main organizer and commented on receiving the support of multiple people “who made things happen” in order for the event to be successful.  In particular, Elder A. Berry (Prayer Coordinator) was highlighted.  Though she could not attend, she prayed for God’s will to be done at the event.

The Annual Women’s Prayer Retreat occurs on April 18-21; Sister Gonzalez encouraged all ladies to attend.
